Terms and Conditions of Standby Booking
I. Applicable Conditions
1. Applicant eligibility
1) Standby booking applicants must have a registered member account on the Air China app that has successfully undergone real-name authentication. To use the standby booking service, users with an existing account must first sign in to the Air China app; users that have not yet registered an account must first register for an account.
2) Applicants are only eligible to make a standby bookings for themselves. Applicants must be adults, this service is currently unavailable for children, infant and passengers who require special assistance.
3) Applicants are not able to change passenger information during the standby period, standby booking order lookup, booking confirmation and payment. Please make sure that passenger information in "Personal Center" - "Frequent Flyer Information" is accurate before applying for the standby booking service. If passenger information is incorrect, you will be unable to check in at the airport.
4) Standby booking requests will not be processed in cases where: an applicant is found to have already submitted another standby booking request for a flight with the same itinerary and on the same date as the second request, an applicant is found to have purchased a ticket for another flight with the same itinerary and on the same date as the standby booking request.
2. Flight Eligibility
Users who have registered for membership and logged into the Air China app are required to select a flight that meets all three applicable conditions, as detailed below. Inapplicable flights will not be displayed on the flight selection page.
1) Applicable flights refer to domestic CA-coded direct or stopover flights operated by Air China with a Standby Booking button on the flight selection page.
2) This service is available to members only and limited to economy classes (Y) on domestic one-way flights in China (not including Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan, China).
3) Standby booking for a flight opens for applications 30 days (not inclusive) prior to the departure date and stays open until 8 hours (inclusive) prior to the departure time. The cutoff time for standby bookings is 8 hours (not inclusive) prior to the departure of the flight. In addition, the economy cabin (Y) of the flight has to have been fully booked in order for the standby booking service to be available.
II. Payment
A pre-authorization method is used as the payment method for standby bookings. Please note that, at present, only UnionPay credit cards issued in China (not including Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan, China) can be used to pay standby booking fees.
1) When a user submits a standby booking request for a flight, the actual amount to be paid includes the full-price fare and taxes of an economy class (Y) ticket for the flight.
III. Standby Status
Users can check the status of their standby booking order by following the path "Personal Center" - "Ticket Orders" - "All" in the Air China app.
1. Awaiting payment
Users can view standby booking orders awaiting payment and complete the payment for these orders by following the path "Personal Center" - "Ticket Orders" - "All".
2. Standby booking in progress
The user enters the standby queue after completing payment for the standby booking order. The queuing order is generated based upon the time at which the successful payment was made.
3. Completed (standby booking successful)
If the user's standby booking is successful, pre-authorization will be automatically completed by the system and a ticket will be issued. After the ticket is issued, you will receive a message from Air China (95583) notifying you that your standby ticket has been issued successfully. Please make sure that we are able to reach you via you cell phone.
4. Standby booking cancelation
1) Users can search for and cancel standby booking orders by following the path "Personal Center" - "Ticket Orders" - "All" in the Air China app.
2) Users who have been unable to purchase a ticket through the standby booking service 8 hours (inclusive) prior to the departure of the flight can cancel their standby booking order and pre-authorization will be automatically revoked by the system.
3) If a user has been unable to purchase a ticket with their standby booking request after the standby cutoff time, the standby booking order will be automatically canceled by the system and pre-authorization will be revoked 30 minutes following the standby cutoff time.
4) After pre-authorization is revoked by the system, the pre-authorization amount put on hold when the user paid the standby booking fees will be released to the credit card. The actual release time of the pre-authorization amount may vary, depending on the time limit stipulated by the issuing bank of the credit card.
IV. Terms of Passenger Ticket Use
After the ticket is successfully issued, the ticket must be used in accordance with the terms of ticket use for your purchased class (Y). Please make sure that you read the terms of use carefully when you submit a standby booking request, these are located below the Standby Booking button on the flight selection page.
V. Restrictions
1) This service cannot be used in combination with other discounts or promotions.
2) Special meals and other special service reservations for standby bookings are currently not supported.
VI. Standby Booking Service—Disclaimer
1) Air China has the right to—at any time and without giving prior notice—adjust the time limit, content and detailed rules of the service or cancel the service as needed. Air China reserves the right of final interpretation for this service.
2) Credit card liability: the issuing bank of the credit card is responsible for any delay in restoring the credit card balance due to any reasons arising on the bank's side.
Note:
When a user submits a standby booking request for a flight, the flight schedule is subject to changes arising from airline adjustments or force majeure events. Please refer to the actual schedule displayed following issuance of the ticket.
When a user submits a standby booking request for a flight, a successful standby booking is only possible when a seat becomes available on this flight. If you have special requirements with regard to the travel time, please apply for this service at your own discretion.
The user enters the standby queue after completing the pre-authorization payment for the standby booking order. As soon as a seat becomes available on the flight, a ticket will be automatically issued by the system according to the order in which successful payments have been made. If you are considering different options for travel, please cancel your standby booking order at the earliest convenience. After the ticket is issued, relevant fees will be charged for alterations or refunds in accordance with the terms of use.
