Notice on Airmiles + Cash Ticket Purchases
Airmiles + cash purchases of tickets refers to members’ redemption of airmiles to offset the price of tickets.
I. Sales rules
1. The flight, class, seat no. and airmile payment rate applicable to the ticket will vary according to the passenger's reservation time, departure time and number of passengers. Specific details are subject to the results displayed on this platform at the time of purchase, and the sale price is subject to the final price displayed.
2. Airmiles may be used to offset the ticket price, but are not applicable to class upgrade fees, rescheduling fees, insurance, fuel fees, airport construction fees and other payments, and are not redeemable for cash. The price of the air ticket shows the amount of cash actually collected, while the itinerary only shows the amount of cash paid. A reimbursement voucher is not provided for airmiles payment. Ticket price includes two parts, one is cash payment (bank card, third-party payment and other non-mileage payment are regarded as cash payment), and the other is airmiles payment.
3. Applicable groups: This ticket is only applicable to adult passengers and children. It does not currently apply to babies.
4. Applicable Conditions: Airline redemption eligibility is required in order to redeem mileage for ticket purchases, meanwhile four qualifying segments (except 0 mileage accrual ratio class) in the last five consecutive years is also needed.
5. Applicable channels: Air China mobile terminals (including Air China app, Air China Alipay/WeChat applet, Air China h5 pages). Tickets redeemed through Air China mobile terminals must be changed or refunded via said terminals.
6. Applicable flights: One-way tickets for domestic Air China flights (not applicable to CA carriers or codeshare flights), with the exception of certain special flights. Subject to enquiry at the time of sale.
II. Rules for ticket changes
1. Voluntary Changes:
(1) Collect the balance between original ticket fares (the sum of cash payment and mileage payment) and changed fares, and the mileage payment is neither compensated nor refunded;
(2) Charge the handling fee according to the original ticket fare;
(3) New ticket rules are executed after the ticket is changed.
2. Involuntary Changes:
For involuntary changes, the ticket is deemed to have been paid and is treated as a paid ticket. In principle, involuntary handling standards of Air China shall prevail.
3. Mispurchases and Involuntary Changes Due to Illness
Handled in accordance with Air China rules for mispurchases and involuntary changes due to illness. Flight dates may be changed once only, however, route changes are not permitted. Additional handling fees are not collected for flight date changes, however, in cases where the price of the new ticket differs from that of the original ticket — for example, due to changes to the sub-class or season — the passenger will be charged for the difference in price between the original ticket (including the portion paid for with cash and the portion paid for with mileage) and the new ticket. Compensation and refunds are not applicable for the portion paid for using mileage. Requests for any additional changes are subject to the conditions of use for the specific ticket.
III. Ticket Refund Regulations
1. Voluntary Refunds
(1) If the customer wishes to refund the ticket instead of exchanging it, the original ticket price (total cash and airmiles price) shall serve as the basis for the calculation of the refund charge. Said charge will be deducted from the cash portion of the ticket, and the original number of airmiles used will be refunded in accordance with their original expiration date; expired airmiles will not be refunded.
(2) Where a passenger applies for a refund after their ticket has already been exchanged, the service fee is calculated on the basis of the original ticket price. The difference in the fare for unused flight segments is fully refunded, but the service fee is not reimbursed. When deducting relevant fees from the cash payment portion of the ticket fare, reimburse the remaining cash payment portion and airmiles, with airmiles refunded as per the original validity period; no reimbursement is to be provided for expired airmiles.
(3) If, during the refund process, the paid cash portion is insufficient to cover the refund charges for the ticket, only the tax supplement will be refunded. The used airmiles will not be refunded.
(4) The cash portion will be refunded to the original bank account used to purchase the ticket and the airmiles will be returned to the original PhoenixMiles account. It is not possible to refund to another account.
2. Involuntary Ticket Refund
In case of an involuntary ticket change, the ticket will be treated as a paid ticket, in accordance with Air China regulations and compensation standards. If airmiles need to be refunded, they will remain valid for 36 months from the date they are refunded.
(3) Mispurchase Refunds
The portion paid for using cash is refunded free of charge. The portion paid for using mileage is refunded subject to the original period of validity. Compensation is not applicable to mileage that has since expired.
(4) Refunds Due to Illness
The portion paid for using cash is refunded free of charge. Refunded mileage is valid for 36 months from the refund date.
